The Atomic Bomb ended WWII and stopped more violence from happening. If America never built the Bomb, they would've had to invade Japan and lose more merican soldiers and many innocent Japanese civilians would've been killed. Its a shame that Japan doesn't acknowledge the atrocities they commited against innocent civilians in China, Korea, Phillipines, and etc. Thank you America for saving Asia from imminent destruction.

ok i feel bad for them and all but look at Pearl Harbor and what they did to the U.S. i know that this was 100x way more severe but how else could we have stopped Japan. their emperor or whatever would have made them all fight to the death so yes i think that this was the fastest way to end this war. and not just innocent people were killed. ppl had guns pointed up in the air in their very own homes. it was a hard decistion but it was the only way to stop the war.

oh yes, america have saved asia, specially arming all the countries in south-east asia, and consequently causing all the genocides of the second half of the twentieth century in this area. fuck the japs back then. they killed americans at pearl harbor, civilaians, saliors , marines, nurses fuck them they deserved it. it saved more lives than it killed. the estimated lives that would be lost from an invasion of japan would have been far worse. my only regret was it wasnt more powerful

As horrible as the power of nuclear weaponry is, they have kept the nations of the world from another worldwide war. I agree we should limit arsenal sizes, but the deterrant power of nukes alone is sufficient. Let us pray that these destructive weapons are never actually used.

Why Hiroshima???? Because Japan/Japanese invaded almost all of Asia & would not stop their bloody killing & invasions. Nazi Germans got their own version of the Atomic Bombs on their cities in the form of Carpet Bombings which killed even more people than in Naga and Hiro combined. Any people & nation that repeats the crimes like the Japanese and Germans while supporting their mad dictatorial leaders like Hirohito & Hitler, deserve to get Bombs of Mass Destruction dropped over their heads.

It killed about 210,000 people combined by the end of '45.
The American tacticians weighed their options heavily. It was either this, or a land invasion. If we had made the land invasion, many, many more people would have died (estimated to be in the millions). The war would have been dragged out much longer.
It's regrettable that it happened, and I don't think such a weapon should have ever even been made, but as bad as it was, many more likely would have died in the land invasion.

You are partially correct; however, there is one other possibility: by 8/45 Nimitz, King, and Arnold all opposed invading S. Kyushu. Only MacArthur favored S. Kyushu. If we had simply blockaded Japan MILLIONS- mostly children- would have starved to death.
