Cherry Poppin' Daddies - 'Zoot Suit Riot' (alternate video)
Uploaded by: Skibz778
Video Description:
This is the first music video to the single 'Zoot Suit Riot' by America's finest rock/swing/ska band, the Cherry Poppin' Daddies. Directed by Isaac Camner.
Backstory: This video was filmed to promote the independent release of the band's 1997 all-swing compilation album 'Zoot Suit Riot' (CPD had already released three indie albums of rock, funk and swing). Following the album's indie success, the band was picked up by major label Mojo Records, 'Zoot' was nationally distributed, and a newer video was filmed.
In my opinion, I much rather prefer this video. I like Steve's over-the-top expressions and the "swing" atmosphere is pretty neat. However, I'm glad they reshot it for the masses and gave it a bit more 'Cherry Poppin' Daddies' atmosphere (the evil clown, the goat head, the guy licking a foot...let's see the squeaky-clean, retro-revisionist cheeseballs like Brian Setzer or Big Bad Voodoo Daddy try THAT!); it really set them apart from the other swing revival bands (as it rightfully should have, seeing as the Daddies were never a "swing band" to begin with).

I do like Stray Cats, though. Good stuff.
Then again, Setzer is headlining the Hollywood Bowl and CPD are playing Joe's Coffee Shack, so there must be something I'm not getting. O_o
