It's confusing true. I'll try to explain as I understand it. I'm not telling anyone what to do, so please no angry comments. God does love us each the same. We all sin. No one's sin is greater or lesser than another's. We're only forgiven by grace from the shedding of Jesus's blood. All of us make bad choices. No one is free from sin. To be saved from hell you have to accept Jesus. As a wise man said, the only difference between sinners & saints is one is saved & the other ain't. God Bless you.
