sadly the bombings were a necessary evil. The japanese emperor still refused to surrender even after hiroshima was bombed that is why 8 days later nagasaki was bombed. absolutely right. A land invasion would have been catastrophic. The bombings were a necessary evil. Not only had the emperor ordered every man, woman and child to fight to the death the concentration camp inmates were also going to be slaughtered on the emperors orders.
