He committed suicide because he felt like he failed in getting his message out to the people, because he had almost no album sales and people would talk through his show. Thats why he was depressed for a long time.
Ironic thing is, he's now seen as one of the most important songwriters of the 20th century

the reason why his music sounds so modern is because he was so ahead of his time. In fact he was so ahead of his time that no one accepted it then. Thats why he got so depressed!
Sad, but at least he's finally getting the recognition thats been 30+ years overdue! The most underated musician of the 20th century!

I'm 2 years older than Nick. His music never ceases to amaze me. Someone once told me that the beautiful & cursed carry the pain for those who are too weak. You may want to read Ian MacDonald's "Exiled from Heaven".

Great song. I picked up the album and wasn't too impressed with the rest of it, but this song seems like it was ahead of its time. I first heard this in the movie "Serendipity" and thought it was Dave Matthews.
