I can, after reading what some racist bigots posted, white southafrikaners, *(BTW I am white European, but I do not want these racist bigots nowhere near me or Europe). They can't accept new realities in south Africa, they better pack and establish their ubber reich somewhere where sun never shines. You are one of those idiots, my friend, who don't know the reallities at all and saying some stupid things like this! Why do all the best national anthems come from oppressive countries? The best one is the USSR/Russian (murderers of 30 million of their own people and a nuke-armed enemy of the West) national anthem; next is the Chinese (murderers of 70 million of their own citizens under Mao and now butchers of innocent Tibetan monks) national anthem;and finally the South African (xenophobic,car-jacking people) anthem. In contrast,my (British) national anthem is crap,which means we are a civilised country.QED.

Composer taught in Zulu as well as Xhosa.
Composer was born in a geographically Xhosa area, however his inspirations could be argued to have had a Christian African influence. In this regard the Zulu Nation can rightfully claim it, as they arguably were the ones who sufferred the most durring that painful era when the composer composed the song.
Zulu's also were the one's who popularised the song in South Africa.

You are being very unjust! Firstly you can not generalize topics like that - I know way too many nice South Africans to support your idea of "damn South Africans"! Additionally, of course it's horrible what is happening to immigrants at present, but you also always have to have some sort of understanding! In South Africa there is high crime and unemployment rate - it's even worse because of some ignorant immigrants who come illegally in search of a better life - but smuggle drugs etc.!

This national anthem and the idea of bringing those two hymns together is a brilliant thing.
I was a tourist in South Africa in 1997, and the country had and has it's problems, but the beauty of the country and the many nice people we met is positive.
