They canceled it because, even though it won numerous awards, the rating were not good. FOX kept moving its time slot to accommodate other shows and did not do this show any favors. The one problem this show had was that it was really difficult for new viewers to start mid season because of all the inside jokes.....

The first epi I watched was the one when Tobias broke into Maggie Lizer's house. I LMAO and ran out and bought the epis I didn't see. It hooked me immediately but I guess I get what you mean about the inside jokes and the family dynamic, they were kind of an acquired taste.
