Marlin Papoose .22: Top Survival Rifle

Uploaded by: nutnfancy
Video Description:
The Marlin Papoose .22 rifle is an excellent all-around .22 rifle choice. Weighing only 3.2 lbs (!) and having the capability to break down easily into a buoyant carry case, the Papoose is extremely portable. It is lighter and more compact than most other .22s around. And unlike some other previous survival .22s, its accurate and reliable while still offering adequate firepower. Other features include a grooved receiver for scope mounting, last shot hold open, high visibility open sights, stainless steel construction, sling swivels, a decent trigger, a fiberglass polycarbonate stock, and the availability of 10 rd magazines (7 rd standard). The Marlin Papoose will function well in different roles: family .22 rifle, survival kit gun, or backpacking gun. The version shown wears a compact and lightweight Weaver 4x28 Classic Rimfire scope (#849430, SWFA.com) which maximizes its accuracy. Its the best .22 pack rifle around.

Thank you for the ... ( 2 weeks ago by buzzclark)
Thank you for the recommendation. I'd like to purchase the ram-line folding stock for it if I can. Unfortunately, I live in California and there may be restrictions. I have already checked 2 online sites that would not ship to Cali. But I have been recommended the ram-line by a brother. If I can the 10/22 plus the ram-line folding stock will be the way I will go. Thank you. Sinceerely, JAMES.

Me personally I think the ruger 10/22 is a better gun-but it does have some disadvantages to it, the things i do like about 10/22 is the iron sites, wood stock, the bigger clips, because I know that you can get clips from 5-50 rounds, the papoose is cool the unsrewable barrel is neat

Great review, I love my papoose. Only one 10 round mag for it, I need more and a scope for it yet, and some of those targets too.
The stock is hollow btw, pain to get open but you could put a survival kit and some ammo in it if you want to.

Others may disagree with me here, but personally I'm not a fan of semi-automatic rifles for survival purposes. Maybe I'm just weird but I feel like it would just be harder to maintain out in the wilderness, and I just like the reliability of a bolt action in that scenario. That being said, this does seem like an excellent survival rifle, and the distrust of semi-auto in survival rifles for me is probably just a personal quirk that may or may not be founded.

okay, well the ruger does have a magazine release, the ruger has a much better magazine configuration, having a 10-round magazine flush with the shock, also the banana clips with 25, 30 and 50 rounds.

also when you mention "alls your realy giving up is a full stock, that continues under the barrel" you might want to reword that because it is a little cocky of you when there are so many, many other things that marlin simply fails at.
i also would like to see some 50 yard groupings, with the federals because thats what i use, and we'll see what your marlin can shoot at that yardage. .

I'm purchasing this rifle to take with me on my backpacking trip across the country. Seems to be the most reliable and accurate survival rifle, also something i can store in my bag.
