Indeed, Brett is Holmes. For me, Livanov doesn't really look like Holmes and I appreciate the fact that the Granada series with Jeremy Brett stay as true as possible to the book.

I've just watched the Russian Holmes again. I recommend you all to watch it! Livanov and Solomin have done a great job. I think if Conan Doyle was alive, he'd prefer them to Brett and the old man playing Watson!!! How come Watson was not a bad boxer, a very good sportsman!? Solomin is the Watson from the book.

I love Jeremy Brett! :D I'm gonna dig through my old dvds to find the series and watch some of it again.
I don't know why people are doubting Robert Downey Jr though..he's a good actor and although he doesn't match the look, I think something different would still be enjoyable as long as the writing is good. I like that Sherlock Holmes will always be kept alive no matter how old it gets.<3
