| I think it was a great idea him taking some rappers over there to see the remnents of this horrible war. I think more of these "hard" rappers should go so they can see just what bein a "solja" is all about. It's still hard to believe that people think that the media has no effect on kids when he said that they would show them "Rambo" movies to help keep them desenitized. THINK AMERICA THINK! |

| I haven't finished the book yet, but it is amazing, so far. I'm simply baffled by the part where, after several months, he's only minutes from getting to see his family when they're all killed. The timing of that seems almost too outlandish to be real. It probably is, though. That part was a little unclear, though. He said he saw "ashes" in the home his family was staying in, but doesn't elaborate. Was that the burned remains of his family, or what? I didn't quite get that part. |

| i was kind of angry by this partt of the book...it just looked a little too fake...but i guesss if he really would have found his family then the point of the book would have been flawed...he wud have never joined the army....u can say he was meant to join ...but the book itself is just a marvel..his vivid descriptions of everything make me think i am actually there with him....great story...just finished 2 daysz ago.. |

| At the very worst, some people think he may have actually compiled some of the stories of others into one more linear tale. However, I'm not even saying I think that's the case. But, yes, that particular part just seemed almost too awful and coincidental to have happened, but I certainly don't claim to know. I wasn't there. Either way, his prose and mastery of the English language are truly amazing, as well as his ability to describe situations with such lucid and visceral detail. |
