Frankly, it's not the laughing matter, when you are afraid for your life driving to your workplace, because of those idiots who don't know how to drive... But don't u think we all drive like that. Opposite, there are even more high-skilled drivers than in western countries, 'cause u need skills to survive among those stupid assholes.

Indiand and Russian drivers are the same. In India very few people can afford a car. Same way in Russia, say about 10 years ago. Cars are a luxury and are reserved for government officials. Unlike in the US and the West where it is a necessity. People start driving by age 16.

rtwfan829, yes I have been to Russia many times ;-) Unlike other countries (even Third World), in Russia you CANNOT get a rental car (Hertz, Budget, etc.)from the airport and drive anywhere. Anyway, my friends warned me not to drive in Russia.:-) Yes, there are many cars in Moscow and SPB, but not beyond. The primary means of transport is still the Metro, buses, gazelles (minivans), and unmarked taxis (moonlighting private drivers).See many postings of "Moscow Traffic Accidents" here in YouTube.

Not true about rental cars, sorry. There is no Hertz but dozens of local companies like that. It is expensive a bit with Lada for about $50 a day, and Lexus RX-350 for about $300. I never used same company but actually had no problems getting brand new ones each time - Camry or Accord. Last time this summer i rented
