This is a German Army unit. There are no SS lightning strikes on any collars or helmets, and there are no SS unit insignia, such as a Death's Head "Totenkopf" badge. In SS units, the eagle is on the uniform sleeve; it's on the chest of the uniforms shown here, where the Wehrmacht displayed it. Professional soldiers of any army are repulsed by wanton acts of brutal murder. Most German soldiers would've thought concentration camp guards and Einsatzgruppen to be not fellow soldiers, but scum.

I totally agree with both of you. It makes me sick at my school when a kid says "Are you German?" "Yes" "NAZI!!!!tehetehethe" Most soldiers werent Nazis, let alone the whole COUNTRY

Maybe their high command was Nazified, but no political party could change the nature of the average German soldier. They would've been like any other soldiers on the front line fighting - contemptuous of some REMF back where it's safe, shooting innocent women and children. German soldiers were like any soldiers in any war - concerned about the survival of themselves and their comrades around them. Nazism was evil, but to equate the average German soldier with Heinrich Himmler isn't fair.
