On August 29, 1949, the Soviet Union (Russia) detonated a 22-kiloton implosion-triggered atomic device; Russia's first operational nuclear weapon. However, the bomb design was an exact copy of the American "Fat Man" implosion-triggered 22-kiloton bomb.
