One problem though ... ( 1 week ago by bakathirteen)
One problem though with Muay Thai (mind you I use MT as well so don't think I'm hating or anything) even though it was designed for a battlefield, that battlefield of old had honor in it. Now it's just kill for fun if not for money and women. Once you start facing what's called "fear induced addrenaline" your mind just shuts down and has no way of remembering complex movements like in MT or some other traditional martial art. Look up "Captain Chris" and that style works.
Just for the record ... ( 1 week ago by bakathirteen)
Just for the record in a situation like in CQC most fire arms aren't even used at all. In fact it's been proven that in most engagements only 6% of them the gun actually goes off.
Muay-Thai isn't ... ( 1 week ago by ING465)
Muay-Thai isn't that complex, it's jsut mixed amrtial arts; it's kickboxing, boxing, ground manouvers, takedowns, most UFC fighters usually use Muay-Thai. Anderson Silva, the best pound-for-poud fighter in the world is a Muay-Thai fighter.
you're thinking of the more older-fashioned Muay-Thai, that was mroe like kickboxing meshed with Kempo.
but yeah; I see what you're getting at though
Kickboxing, boxing, ... ( 1 week ago by bakathirteen)
Kickboxing, boxing, ground moves, takedowns, and submission throws don't work in actual combat. Why don't you get your fear induced addrenaline going and you'll see what I mean. You just stop thinking about movements like that all together. You can't focus about, you can't think about, and you can't do most of those moves when someone pulls a knife or gun. That's where things like "gross motor movements" come in. Sure practice martial arts but also remember CQC movements for self defence.

I do see what you mean; I been in tons of fights. and yes, fear-enduced adrenaline does effect how you fight, but once you've been fighitng in a martial art long enough, it becomes instinct to do those things.
there are lots of things that could effect a fight, it's all a part of the human mind basicly. It's different for every person. like, I've been in fights, and done kicks to the ehad, arm bars, rear-legeed chokes, and I've won them all.
it basicly jsut depends on the person's instincts
During close ... ( 1 week ago by SuperSaiyan4Broly)
During close proximity encounters, reflex is the key aspect which can determine either life or death. When you've earned yourself enough experience in that field, those reflexes serve you well in terms of success so don't make the mistake of thinking that adrenaline will allow you to forget self defense moves. When a person's body and mind work as one, even most difficult predicament can be solved.

Yeah? Maybe if you'd been more alert and expected the unexpected, you may have turned the tables on that gang. Don't they say chance favors the prepared mind?
Muay Thai is not as ... ( 1 week ago by labartic)
Muay Thai is not as direct as it could otherwise be, for use as a combat art. For instance, you dont see fighters in competition raking eyes, kicking groins, or stomping throats. This has to be trained as well to be used in life or death situations. If attacked by multiple people you need to disable or kill in a few seconds, not slug it out and grapple and wear them down with knee strikes.
Indeed that's true ... ( 1 week ago by bakathirteen)
Indeed that's true but that usually takes months of going to a gym and constantly practicing the same moves sometimes for hours on end. That's why I actually made my own style that does incorporate some of the most simple and devastating moves that I know of. Of course I'll admit that the Muay Thai elbow move is very simple and even lethal if used properly, is actually in this style. Plus moves from Combato and Defendu, Krav Maga and MCMAP, are all in my style. Mix those together-

this is shocking! some of the martial arts principles are completely lost, way too flashy, and uses too much energy, and the opponent on the street wouldnt stand there and let you smack the knife out his hand, thats what my experinces have taught me

you are right, it wouldn't seem ordinary to try to use ground manouvers on someone who's trying to kill you. But I've done it before; how the people in my fightclub learn it, is for competative mostly, but you can use it however you want. Go to your local fightclub, take some of the Muay-Thai classes there, ('cause all it basicly is now is Thai kickboxing) and you'll see what I'm talking about. The people ther won't all fight the same, they'll each fight differently

The thing is with me though is I can't go to a gym or fightclub because of my style, because it's considered "too brutal" for a ring and I'll most likely end up hurting someone VERY badly. I've even employed physiological warfare into it to make a person give up fighting forever. I don't play games, I defend myself and those around me. That's the true meaning of "Martial Arts". Martial means military/fighting/warrior the like.

and what happens ... ( 4 days ago by Temudun)
and what happens when you use the gun? you are then captured and then taken to jail for life if you murdered or for 5-10 years for holding and using it.
permits are only for people like police officers or people who enforce the laws made up by the government.
therefore anyone who is not enforcing the government and holds a weapon is a criminal.
thats thick headed european laws for you :o)
