I disagree with most of the comments, I fell in love with the sound of the vocals of ABBA but realised later that is was Frida's voice that I liked the most. I think Frida's voice is just as important as Agnetha's.

ABBA is the best band after The Beatles and I think the "gay icon" stereotype was given by arrogant and stupid people

Actually there are mainly 3 versions so far.The Sax, the la,la,la,la (aka na,na,na) & the "original slow". Some are speed up versions of those 3.

Just like that
He walked into my house
As smug as a cat
He was handsome and smart
Walked away with my heart
Just like that
He found a temporary home in my flat
Telling innocent lies
Throwing dust in my eyes
But I led him on,
Knowing that someday soon he'd be gone
Just like that
As though he only stopped awhile for a chat
But my secrets he learned
Leaving no stone unturned
Every member of ... ( 1 year ago by theblob2007)
Every member of Abba was absolutely indispensable. The departure of even one of them would certainly have meant the end of the group. Perhaps no other band has ever depended so heavily on each of its members.

I agree completely. What a great and accurate definition of the ABBA physiology!

THANK YOU! I never thought I would hear any additional portions of this unfinished song -- the previously released chorus was catchy, but this shows how great the finished song could have been. I would like someone to explain the shrillness one occasionally hears when Frida and Agnetha both sing. I used to think it came from Agnetha's voice, but after I heard her solo albums, I began to wonder. Love them both, but Agnetha has the better voice.

I'm sorry cause I dont mean to start anything, but I think, Frida, just makes this song amazing, I am a huge fan of ABBA and to me they all are great but I'm a big huge, Frida, Fan. She was and still is so freaking beautiful even with time, she was always so sure of her self not to mention her voice!

This song was given to a swedish group called Gemini who recorded it in the late 80's I think. Another reason it wasn't released was the fact that a part of the melody (just before the chorus) ended up in the song "Under Attack".
B & B were known for discarding anything they weren't completely happy with (this song probably being one of them). Summernight City was another song that almost wasn't released. They made about 30 different versions/takes of it and they're still not happy with it.

Yup that Gemini version never appealed to me as much this one with Agnethas haunting as Hades itself vocals. Just more to my liking I guess. Regrettably If only B & B knew this meant more to us than them. Best Wishes my friend. :)

The shrill that you're talking about came from Frida's voice ;) In my opinion, it's what gave the ABBA sound that special touch. I'm a very big fan of Frida and all of her music :D

yes yes, I agree with you completely theblob2007. I'm sure we all have our favorites, but that doesn't mean any one member is "superior" or "more vital" than the other (Malibuses)

bnb made them sing a lot of the solo lines together, but letting one of the voices be more important, that is where they sound so different on their solo albums, they both have an incredible range though. another thing bnb sometimes did especially in the harmony was to dub the voices and pitch these just a fraction up, then mix it again with the original recordings, this gives the fresh and sometimes shrill sound (dancing quengood example)
Thank you both. I ... ( 1 year ago by WHhunt1)
Thank you both. I suspected it had something to do with the mixing of tracks. I'm not a fan of shrill, but with ABBE it is an extremely small price to pay for such wonderful overall results.

Just occasionally,I can get ever so slightly fucked off with the Agnetha fans banging on self importantly about 'her contribution'grow up.Did you ever hear her sing in a lower pitch? no.Frida could vary the sound way more.

Well the Frida fans do it as well, just go around YOUTUBE and you will see many Anti Ags vitriol being spewed and as an FYI, Ags sang low in various ABBA song and she sounds absolutely fine. Just because her forte is her higher register doesn't mean she was unable to sing in lower pitches.
If they ever ... ( 5 days ago by fearthereaper1956)
If they ever released this as a single or on a compilation album, it would probably come close to a record for the longest delay between release date and the demise of a group. 26 years and increasing by the day.
I guess it won't be anytime soon because B & B are all set with Mamma Mia royalties.
