This video was taken at the 2003 Battle of The Bulge Reenactment that is held each January in Ft. Indiantown Gap, PA.
This is the largest WWII reenactment in the U.S.
I've taken this video as a tribute to my father and all the brave soldiers who fought and died in the Hurtgen Forest the Winter of 1944.

Patience - and a steady hand with the camera.
My main purpose in making this was to give my Dad some idea of the action during the reenactment.
He goes with me to the event, but at 91 isn't quite up to going in the field with us.

i know this sound kinda crazy and morbid, but we should have like war renactments with real guns and real bullets like the romans used to with colloseums but with swords and stuff

Well - the reenactors DO use REAL guns - the ones actually manufactured around the time of WW2, but all are firing blanks.

Honor code. And believe me, it can be a pain in the ass when you get a bunch of guys squealing like girls that they shot the other person first or that the other person didn't hit them because they were hiding behind a tree half the width of them.

Not only were crack SS division attacking the lines, it was the coldest winter Belgium had had in some 50 years. So yes, it would have just been absolutely horrible.

WWII reeanctors don't see it as glorifying war. We see it more as honoring the veterans and helping to inform the public.

The Garand has to have a special blank adapter added to it to help the rounds cycle and eject. Bolt action rifles don't as they are ejected manually. Some guns are actually made to only fire blanks or are gas operated.

During a public event yes. During a tactical event, which this looks like, you have to usually get healed by a medic of go back to your base and then start over.

It's basically like paintball. You point your weapon at someone and fire. However, obviously you are not hit with anything. So usually, if you are close enough so that the person can see you, you acknowledge that you have been hit and do as williamkisse said.
