Now you are a YouTube Star!!! and least you were not doing something goofy. Also, at least you were sounding off, a drill sargent would be proud! At least you'll have a good comradeship with a bunch of not so well-to-do people. Look down to the rest of this post of the comments made by some who sound as if there rear-ends are as tight as 22. cal rifle. They must be the authentic type. HA! HA!

YO I GOT LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE A GENERAL(GENERAL SHERMAN) OF THE UNION... but they only gave me a musket and a pistol, i took my regiment out of re-enactment zone, about 20 feet out and brought them behind the confeds and just fired 2 volleys stole their cannons and shot the confeds, one of my men accidentally shot me in the leg but then i shot their general like 10 times!!!

So how does this work? Really cool stuff. Are these like part-time jobs? And how do people know when to die? Is it like a certain time or what?

You should have come to Gettysburg this coming weekend (July 4th weekend), for the 145th Anniversary. Nearly 20,000+ will be in attendance, I'm glad you noted the quality in uniforms and event on this video, before I did. I was about to rip it apart being so farby, I think you'd love the eastern theatre if you're looking for a more authentic look!
Re-enacting has ... ( 5 months ago by brokenspears)
Re-enacting has been going on since after the civil war. Veterans during Memorial day would re-enact the battles at Gettysburg or other places. It was until after all the Civil War Veterans had died that those who wanted to educate themselves and the viewing public, while honoring those who went before us, kept it going.
Re-enacting took ... ( 5 months ago by brokenspears)
Re-enacting took off during the 1980s during the 125th Anniversary events. It wasn't until Ted Turner released "Gettysburg" that re-enacting peaked during the 90s with nearly 500,000 re-enactors in the US alone...

To this day, the largest Civil War Re-enactment took place in 1998 at the 135th Gettysburg, where the Guiness Book of Records states that nearly 40,000-60,000+ re-enactors were in attendance. The 3rd day at the event, is the only day since the civil war that the actual number of troops were on the field for the Pickett/Pettigrew's Charge scenario. It was an unbelievable site to witness and take part of!

Most of those are not gone. The average time a typical reenactor spends in the hobby is only 5 to 7 years. It gets dull after a while because it is the same thing, year after year, event after event. A thinking person gets tired of having to deal with all the yahoos that ruin the hobby for those serious about history.

Most of those guys that got hit by musket fire would probably be writhing on the ground for quite some time before they finally died. I'd expect to hear a lot of screaming
