NO ONE knows who wrote House of the Rising Sun.
No, it wasn't the animals nor bob dylan.
It's much older than that.
The Animals version is considered definitive and I myself consider it to be the best.
Pink Floyd did not cover it. Thats a Floyd cover band called Fridged Pink.
this song was available on a compilation album called "1 Love" which was released by an organization called War Child.

They were just trying to trade on the "Pink" sound in their name.
And, they did a killer cover of The House of the Rising Sun.
The animals version was, and is, the most popular. But, Bob Dylans version was more accurate in that he claimed to be a 'poor girl' rather than a 'poor boy' in that it is widely thought that the song was written by, or about, a prostitute in a famous house of ill repute known as the rising sun
