Veterans for Peace at Armed Forces Day Parade

Video Description:
Two quotes from courageous people who took part in this parade:
"out of every thing i have done... every letter...
every phone call... every protest march over the
years...
just being there with a tshirt and a sign... i felt
the biggest sense of accomplishment."
And:
.........yet wearing the Kitsap for Peace
shirt and carrying a sign saying "bring our troops home now" was a scary
thing to do at the Armed Forces Day parade.
A man approached me almost immediately and said, "God bless you" and
thanks for being here." Soon after this a woman came up to me and asked,
where can I get the Kitsap for peace sign?" I asked her if she really
wanted 1 now and she said "yes." I gave her my sign and invited her to our
Friday vigil.
I crossed to another corner where a woman read my sign - we began
talking and she expressed the desire that these troops come home soon. I
moved down the road a little bit where it was less crowded and although I
felt more vulnerable, I felt it was important to spread our message out.
(By that time there were always 2-5 police near me "keeping me safe"). So
many people gave me thumbs up, said "God bless you" and "thanks for being
here." Most meaningful were the WW2 vets and other vets positive responses.
My anger is at the organizers who placed your group at the end of the
parade, and failed to acknowledge you at the stand.
To walk with your group was a humbling experience for me. I
will remember seeing groups of folks standing up when they read the banner,
applauding and supporting your presence.
