Reenactment of the Western Front combat and trench life of the Great War (1914-18) hosted twice a year by the Great War Association. Visit them at www.great-war-assoc.org. I've never been burned by one, But I have had the Germans ingenious sling shot land a grenade in my lap.. I dont know what they wre using but this fuse was burning and had an odd trajectory (at night).. regardless that was interesting...

This is true, they did away with the.. I dont know its official name, but the Spike Helmet towards the later half of the war.. They then used the "box" helmet and continued to during WWII.. =)

Yes. We are not shoting any projectiles from our mussels. It is just the gun powder igniting and creating the sensation of a gunshot. We NEVER aim at a person, always towards and up. This way we dont burn them. If a mortar, grenade lands near you and you cannot move, just cover your face is the best advice.

not really. the germans did not really rely so much on gas in ww2 except for strongholds in stalingrad and such, and germans did not have the big powerful luftwaffe in ww1 as they did in ww2 and their tanks in ww2 were tiger tanks being better than their ww1 tanks from 1918.

Wrong, the Pickelhaube was discontinued around 1916, when they adopted the Stahlhelm, which in its modified form served in WWII. (British 1st World War re-enactor here :) )

i love what the GWA does - it's a tribute to the men who served and a real link to the past that really brings the war to life and passes the memory on ---- only comments on realism is they don't dig the trenches deep enough - no one spent that much time with half their bodies out of the trench -

Are you talking about the music in this because its not God save the Tsar....Theres the first part of the 1812 overture then the rest is from Mozart's Requiem Mass in D minor I cant quite recall the part of the Mass its from right off hand.
