There is a famous "Thors hammer" found in Fossi dated from around the 10thC. It has a cross cut into it which is meant to show the transition from the Vikings Gods to christianity. BUT could not be the opposite? showing the cross in the middle of the hammer as if surrounded by their Gods? It's an ongoing debate and maybe that was a way the Vikings protested the christian religeon. I doubt we'll fully ever know the truth of what it symbolizes.

There's no way that we'll fall back onto savage means of lifestyle if oil fails. There's still numerous sources, and rather than give up all advances in technology that are the foundation for the modern world, we'll invest more effort to adapt our current technology to alternative forms of power. There's no way we'll give up hospitals and vehicles, to name a couple, just because the oil's gone.
